A year ago this time, I did a couple of posts in which I did my version of a couple of ads from the fall Vogue. One was my take on
Keira Knightley's Chanel advertisement and the other was of the
matriarch in the Hilfiger ads. To my eye, one of the most striking ads in THIS fall's Vogue was the Ferragamo houndstooth, but my copy of the magazine is long gone...and I am realizing now that I have mis-remembered the look. The main impression I took away from the magazine was a MIX of different sized houndstooths (would that be houndsteeth?) combined in one look.
I found this Cambridge Dry Goods skirt in one shop and a month later, at a Salvation Army, I located the blouse by O & G. Before I could put the look together, apparently Lady Gaga and Kim Kardashian had already done their takes. I may be late to the party, but I think I've given them a good run on the look.
Couldn't wear the first one to campus as the blouse is too sheer, but looks two and three might work.
This mis-remembering business may be a sign of impending age or it may be in the nature of all creativity, taking ideas from many places and recombining to create something all one's own. Vreeland would approve of the red belt.
Speaking of teeth, I welcomed in the new year with a tooth that fell to pieces at the very moment the earthquake struck in Japan. Coincidence?

My mind is blown by the awesomeness of the first outfit. Wow! It's a shame that the blouse is too sheer for campus wear, but I think you will get some serious mileage out of that skit.

The third look is by far the most regal, in my opinion. I think the other two tend to make you look less like an in-control matriarch.

"Houndsteeth" works for me. I love the third outfit with the red belt and the little split at the wrist.

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely 'houndsteeth'! Love the red belt. Would a cami - black, white, nude? help with the sheer blouse? Or a black or red vest perhaps. I'm a big fan of black tights as well. I think of open-toed slings as more appropriate for summer, but I'm no expert that's for sure. For this reason alone, I think my favourite look is the last without black tights. Red shoes would also be brill (I tried to type 'rock', but it's just not me...).

Love the first look especially, but all three are fab. Your figure is perfect for outfits like this. Couldn't you wear a cami underneath the first blouse to make it work appropriate? It is sure a gorgeous outfit.

Pam--I actually have a couple of interviews I would like to do for the blog, but I think I lack the necessary equipment. And when one is taking written notes, it's hard to get the quotes accurate if they are over a sentence long.

Mater--this particular tooth SHOWS when I smile. Today, I found that I was very self-conscious about big grins. Must get it fixed pronto.
